Roland Park Neighborhood

このサイトについて
Roland Park is an early planned "suburban" community in Baltimore, Maryland, USA and is a model for "livable" communities today. It was developed between 1890 and 1920 as an upper-class streetcar suburb boasting amenities such as sanitary sewers, fresh air, and scenic views. Land was set aside for churches, schools, fire station, a country club, and a small commercial strip. The early phases of the neighborhood were designed by Edward Bouton and Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. Among its distinctive features are its hierarchy of roads - Roland Avenue, residential streets, service lanes, and its footpaths designed to stimulate interaction among neighbors and provide quick access to the streetcars and railways that served its residents. Its mature tree canopy provides shade that makes the area noticeably cooler in summer.
