School 33 Art Center has been open for 30 years and provide art classes, for all levels of students, studio space for selected artists, and exhibition space. Events hosted by the center and sponsors include artwork exhibits of resident or visiting artists, Lotta Art, and Open Studio Tour in Station North Arts District and Hollins Market. The center was previously an abandoned elementary school building until 1977, when Mayor Schaefer proposed to revitalize the building with funds from the United States Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration and through the City’s Public Works Improvement Program.
