The facade of this historical building dated back at least to 1556 has been a canvas for Czech contemporary artists since 1990s.
Every year an artist is commissioned by the management of the Egon Schiele Art Centrum to create the Madonnas.
Most of these artists sooner or later receive a solo-exhibition to complement the work.
Each Madonna is an original work that is displayed for a year.
The works are part of the Schiele Centrum collection and an exhibition of these Madonnas' is planned for the future.

少なくとも４５０年間の歴史をもつこの建物の壁面は、１９９０年代よりチェコ人の現代画家のカンバスとなっている。
毎年、同じ通りにあるエゴン・シーレ美術博物館によって指名されたアーティストが描いた「マドンナ」が、１年間にわたって展示される。
その後、ほとんどのアーティストはエゴン・シーレ美術博物館での個展の機会を得る。
エゴン・シーレ美術博物館では数年後に、歴代マドンナの展示を予定しているそうだ。
