Freedom Park is located in Jung-gu, Incheon. It is the first Western style park which was created in 1883 inside the open porrt area. The park is made due to the construction of 'Boundary of all nations' by world powers such as Qing, Japan, U.K., U.S., and Russia after Incheon became an open port. The first name of Freedom Park was 'International Park', and the name changed into 'West Park' in the Japanese Colonial era. After the Korean War, the park's name changed into 'Freedom Park' with the construction of the statue of General McArthur. The park has good view of Incheon's nature. It functions as a leisure spot for Incheon citizens. Various events are held in Freedom Park including the festival which is held annually in April, art competition, and writing competition.
