In July of 2016, The Green Building Certification Institute awarded Prince Frederick Hall the Leed Gold Certification, as it earned a 60 out of 64 for its score. The campus dorm building has compost bins, landfill bins and many other recycling options all over the floors. Additionally, Prince Frederick has a smart control which allows the building to maximize and minimize temperatures, so it is only on when students are in the room. The building used LED lights and student have limited access to controlling their room temperatures, resulting in energy efficiency. Additionally, the dorm has water-efficient plumbing fixtures which save more than 30 percent more than regular, conventional water fixtures.
