Akuwa is an information technology consulting firm that offers professional guidance from project conception, strategy and planning, through specification and procurement to project management and implementation. The company is using technology to reduce its costs and environmental impacts by consolidating their servers, reducing energy consumption and heat generation. Akuwa also purchases used hard drives and hardware, as well as collects used computer equipment from its clients to refurbish and recycle.

Akuwa Solutions Group became a Sarasota County Green Business Partner in 2009. The Green Business Partnership (GBP) encourages environmental stewardship in the commercial sector, and recognizes businesses that make an extra effort to operate in an environmentally responsible manner. This collaborative effort includes businesses, business organizations and local governments. The GBP was initiated through a grant awarded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to Sarasota County.
