JR Groundforce was set up by Mair Baker in the Blaen-y-maes estates, to help young people make a positive difference to where they live. Now a group of 50 or so young people work to put something back into their community; by picking up litter, digging public garden areas and planting flowers and shrubs. JR Groundforce has won several major awards, including one from the Home Office, and the BTCV Green Heroes award which was presented at Buckingham Palace; They prove that people can come together to tackle the problems of anti-social behavior in a positive and creative way.

The project is named after James Rogers, a soldier from Blaenymaes, killed in Kosova.
JR Groundforce is run with the help of BTCV, and is based at the ARC Centre in Blaen-Y-Maes.
