Trondheim was the first city in the world to have a lift specially designed for cyclists. This bicycle lift, known as Trampe, was first introduced in 1993. It was discontinued due to wear and technical shortcomings in 2010, but in spring 2013 a new lift, Trampe CycloCable, was opened.

Trampe helps cyclist up the steep Brubakken hill near Gamle Bybro (The Old Town Bridge). It is 130 metres long and free to use.
