Lukiškių aikštė - didžiausia aištė Vilniuje (apie 4 ha), kuri yra miesto centre bei ribojasi su Gedimino pr. ir kitomis didžiosiomis gatvėmis. Aikštę supa kultūriniai pastatai. XVII - XIX a. šioje vietoje buvo Vilniaus priemiestis, vadinamas Lukiškėmis. XVIII a. vid. pradėta formuoti aikštė. 1863 Lukiškių aikštė tapo viena iš teritorijų, kurioje vyko viešos bausmės. 1943-1952 aikštė buvo rekonstruota pagal V. Mikučianį. Sovietmečio metu, aikštė buvo pervadinta į Lenino aikštę ir jos viduryje 1953 m buvo pastatyta Lenino statula. Dabar ši statula yra eksponuojama Grūto parke.Nuo XX a. pr. aikštė tapo žinoma, kaip tradicinio Kaziuko festivalio vieta. Lukiškės Square is the largest square (about 4 ha) in Vilnius located in the center of the city. A major street in Vilnius, Gediminas Avenue, passes by the southern border of the square. It is surrounded by many public buildings. Between the 17th and 19th centuries, it was a suburb of Vilnius and called Lukiškės. In the middle of 18th the square started to grow. In 1863 the Lukiškės Square was one of the areas where public executions of insurgents took place.The square was reconstructed according to the design of V. Mikučianis in 1949–1952. During the Soviet era, the square was renamed Lenin Square and a statue of Lenin, was built in the middle of it in 1953. The reassembled Lenin statue is now on display in Grūtas Park. From the beginning of the 20th century the square became known for the traditional Kaziukas Fair.
