一、法律援助
法律援助是政府出资为经济困难的公民或者特定案件的当事人提供减、免收费的法律服务，以保障经济困难的公民获得必要的法律保护的一项法律制度。
二、普陀区法律援助中心职能
1、依法受理和审查公民提出的法律援助申请；
2、依法受理法院指定辩护的刑事案件；
3、依法受理和审核检察、公安机关转交的法律援助申请；
4、为符合法律援助条件的当事人统一指派或安排承办律师；
5、对律师承办的法律援助案件进行质量监督。
