寬、深皆一丈的土牛溝是早期漢番的分界，以深溝來阻止雙方可能的相互侵擾，重點駐紮隘丁守衛。土牛溝的殘留遺跡的存在，透露出祖先開墾的特殊歷程與智慧。目前楊梅地區的土牛溝正逐漸消失，我們應好好維護它，將其歷史意涵告訴我們的後代子孫。
