Rhossili Down and cliffs

Overview
At the tip of the Gower Peninsula is the sweeping bay of Rhossili. With the bones of a shipwreck and the tidal island of Worm's Head revealed at low tide, the best way to take it all in is to follow the 200m climb above the bay to Rhossili Down Commons. From here, the views are simply magnificent.
The commons also boast prehistoric stone circles, cairns and burial chambers. Rhossili Down is predominately composed of dry acid dwarf shrub heath and bracken dominated areas. The site supports a good biodiversity of flora and fauna including a number of protected species. Designated as CRoW open access land, SSSI, SINC, common land and open access land.
Rhossili is a popular beach, with a Green Coast Award, located on the western coast of Gower, and was hailed as the 'British supermodel of beaches' by 'The Independent' and one of the top 25 beaches in the world by 'The Sunday Times'. A large amount of sand is uncovered at low tide, providing excellent bathing and beautiful scenery. Visitors to Rhossili can enjoy spectacular views of Worms Head, one of the most photographed landmarks in Wales, and is a haven for wildlife, including seals. It is even possible to cross the rocks to Worms Head at low tide, but be careful you don't get cut off!
