"Started a Green Committee, which now has 18 staff members; started a school-wide single-stream recycling program; implemented procedures school-wide for conserving energy; installed water-saving faucets and toilets; planted 8 native habitat gardens, 1 butterfly garden, 1 rain garden and many trees on school grounds; in the process of working with the Irvine Nature Center to design, plant and maintain outdoor rain and butterfly gardens in places where asphalt was removed; holds annual Green Thumb Days, Earth Day Decorating Contests and Earth Day Poster Contests." http://www.baltimorecityschools.org/Page/14197
