Brooklyn Greenway Initiative is the non-profit organization responsible for conceiving, planning and coordinating the development of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. It was founded in 1998 when NYC officials thought little of the 14-mile greenway. The Greenway will connect Brooklyn to Manhattan’s Greenway network, increasing waterfront access and diversifying transportation options. Other public benefits include improved recreation options and increased economic development in neighborhoods near the Greenway.
