Columbia Bottom Conservation Area is at the Mississippi and Missouri River confluence in North County. The Missouri Department of Conservation Department purchased this land to create an urban conservation area. They hope to create bottomland habitats including shallow wetlands, bottomland hardwoods, prairie and cropland. Hopefully these will attract various types of local and migratory wildlife. The area includes roads, trails, river access, and a viewing area of the confluence. The area's habitat is being improved by constructing more roads and trails, a visitor center, and a river pump station.
