In the winter these trails are used for cross-country skiing. A large picnic area is located at the north end of the park. It includes a group picnic shelter, youth playground, in-ground grills, two sand volleyball courts, an in-line hockey rink, a walking labyrinth and six horseshoe pits. The picnic shelter is available on a "first-come" basis, but may be reserved in advance for a nominal fee. During the winter, the department maintains the pond near Farmington Road for ice skating. Also located in Heritage Park are the Visitor Center, Day Camp, Nature Center and Studio-Stables buildings. For pavilion rental contact (248) 473-1800.

Located on the west side of Farminton Road between 10 and 11 Mile, the 211-acre property features 4.5 miles of walking trails.

When you follow the road through the park, you will begin to notice that Heritage Park is home to some historic buildings. These buildings feature the Visitor's Center, the Nature Center, and the Art Studio. The Nature Center, which is known for its bird-watching area, is free and open to the public. The Art Studio is the former stables of the property, and is used for art and pottery classes.

As you explore the park, you will notice that the trails are the most dominant feature of the park. The trails wind through the park and provide scenic, overlooking views of the area and the Rouge River.

The recently-built splash park will be a big attraction for children. It is located next to the playscape area that also features volleyball nets and a large, open field for any other activities you can think of.
