First an Irish-dominant church, with the Italians having services in the basement. Religiously, there were conflicts as well. Irish Catholics placed more stress on obedience than joy which the Italians did not favor and the Irish Catholics felt the celebrations held for saints under the Italian Catholics was pagan idolatry.
Over time, the pastors were Italian and the congregants moved their services to the main hall.
