Freie Schule (Free School) 171 Chrystie Street
Visão geral
The Free School was founded by the newspaper-publishing family, the Struves. The school was founded on science, a concept backed by the veterans of the Revolutions of 1848. The education was based on German culture and traditions. Some schools taught entirely in German, some were bi-lingual (too controversial) and some had religious instruction. Many of the educators were the veterans of the Revolutions. This building no longer exists.
