History buffs and visitors can become familiar with Civil War history, or enjoy the nature trails and recreational opportunities at Camp Milton Historic Preserve. Designated a Civil War camp ground, Camp Milton offers a state of the art educational center displaying Civil War artifacts, McGirts Creek Bridge a replica of a 'Campaign Bridge', a historic tree grove, wooden boardwalk leading to Civil War earthworks, and an authentic 1800's Florida farmstead (historic 'cracker house') provides visitors with a glimpse into history. Camp Milton is a great place to 'revisit' history, learn, and commune with nature.

Within the preserve, visitors may see a diversity of natural habitats, including upland mixed forest and wetlands. This landscape provides awesome butterfly and birding opportunities especially songbirds. There are also opportunities to watch wildlife and see endangered species such as the eastern indigo snake or the threatened flatwoods salamander.
