Overview
GroundTruth is a multidisciplinary environmental consulting company able to perform a diverse variety of environmental assessments, and develop impact management plans, habitat rehabilitation plans, spatial development plans and biodiversity conservation plans for a diversity of aquatic and terrestrial habitats. GroundTruth has a particular speciality in assessing, monitoring and managing environmental issues surrounding water resources, such as water quality monitoring, catchment management, aquatic habitat assessments, river health assessments, wetland and riparian delineations, and wetland functional and health assessments.
Collectively the staff of GroundTruth have over fifty years experience in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem functioning and management, developing innovative solutions to a range of practical and applied ecological problems. Staff at GroundTruth have involvement in the co-development of some of the latest programmes, methods and tools utilised within the river and wetland fields in South Africa. GroundTruth has experience working throughout a diversity of habitats across South Africa, and also have experience working in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, Lesotho and Mozambique. Work includes projects for local and international industries, mining houses, consultants, developers and regional and national government departments.
GroundTruth has gained a vast amount of experience in managing and implementing large-scale multi-disciplinary projects, using dedicated resources and associates. GroundTruth have also co-ordinated and provided specialist input to reserve studies for the Department of Water Affairs and private developers required to undertake such studies for development applications. GroundTruth have had extensive involvement in the South African National River Health Programme; Quality Assurance programme.
Philosophy
To develop sustainable solutions by balancing resource utilisation with development through correct management, monitoring, conservation and rehabilitation to sustain and improve the overall functioning of systems, facilitated by collaborational management initiatives and the involvement of stakeholders.
