The Book Thing is a shining beacon of the principles of reuse and community building. People bring their lightly used books here by the boxfull, and other folks who want them come and take them away. It reaffirms people's belief in the goodness of their fellow city-dwellers and saves money and paper by allowing people to enjoy someone else's old book, rather than purchase a new copy.
