Valhalla Park Family Recreation Centre
Rezumat
The Family Recreation Centre consistsof a skateable forecourt / plaza, pathways, BMX track, informal cricket field, two mini-soccer synthetic pitches, 2 mixed-use courts, one full sized synthetic soccer pitch, a Spray Park, playground equipment, outdoor gym equipment, a change room and ablution facility and a multi-use clubhouse.
The project aligns itself with the World Design Capital theme in countless ways. Some of which are the process involved in conceptualising this project, applying studies to the initial requirements and brief for the facility, understanding the complexity of the community involved, determine what facilities should be provided, how these facilities should be positioned, what innovative elements can be added.
The project constitutes a pilot project within the Directorate. The design of the facility revolves around the provision of more informal sporting and activity facilities for utilisation by various age groups in an interactive and social manner. Morden design principles have been undertaken in the final design of the Family Recreation Centre in order to create an environment where elements are utilised by the community they serve and spaces work well together given their own intrinsic principles and how these elements co-exist within such facility.
