Flour Mill Museum

Rezumat

The Flour Mill Museum (Musée du Moulin-à-Fleur) was initially located on Notre Dame Avenue beside the Flour Mill Silos in the city's historic Flour Mill neighbourhood in 1974, and is devoted particularly to the life and history of the Franco-Ontarian community in the Flour Mill area.. It was later moved in the 1980s to its present location on St. Charles Street.

The Flour Mill Museum consists of two buildings, a log cabin and a heritage house. Both buildings are open for public viewing. The historic building made of clap boards, was built in 1903 originally the home of François Varieur, the foreman of Evans Lumber, a logging mill which was situated on Xavier Street.in the Sudbury area. It was later acquired by the Manitoba and Ontario Flour Mill Company, to serve as the home of the community's flour mill foreman.

Once inside the heritage house, visitors can get a glimpse of what life would have been like for it's original owner at the turn of the century. The log cabin offers a collection of exhibits that showcase the history of the site as well as Sudbury's "French Town".
