Ditmars-Polhemus Wagon House
Rezumat
(circa 1800)
According to a Hillsborough Patch article interviewing architect Dennis Kowal, the building was likely used for grain and corn storage. An upper floor was probably used for hay storage or living quarters for servants.
"Before the property was bisected by Route 206, the Dutch style wagon house (possibly the last of its kind still standing in New Jersey) and large barn on the West side of the highway were an integral part of the farmstead. The wagon house has recently undergone a restoration intended as much to preserve the building from further deterioration as to return it to its original appearance."
