A Trilha Ecológica do Rio Vermelho tem dupla função social. Além de proporcionar momentos de lazer, através do contato com a natureza, todas as visitas são conduzidas por um Monitor Ambiental da ONG R3 Animal, que conta a história dos animais da Trilha com a intenção de estimular no visitante o desenvolvimento de um consciência ambiental, através da reflexão sobre como o descaso com a natureza e os maus tratos aos animais podem ser danosos ao meio ambiente.
