Montgomery Township Public Works Yard

The Container Facility allows Montgomery Township residents to dispose of household items that are not recyclable, not hazardous waste and that cannot be collected by their trash hauler. A Montgomery Township Coupon is required of all Montgomery residents who wish to enter the facility.

Each household may purchase one (1) Coupon for a fee of Forty Dollars ($40.00) good for four (4) trips to the facility. The Coupon will be punched at the Container Facility. There is no expiration date and there is no limit on the number of additional Coupons households may purchase.

The application form and fee may be brought or mailed to the Montgomery Township Municipal Building. Coupons are not available for purchase at the Container Facility.

No one without a Coupon will be permitted into the Container Facility. Exception: There are two (2) items that can be brought to the Container Facility that do not require a Coupon. These two (2) items are used motor oil and brush. (See Container Facility Rules #5 brush and #8 motor oil). If a resident brings materials in addition to brush and/or motor oil, the trip will count and the Coupon will be punched. Proof of residency will be required.
1. The Facility is available to Montgomery Township Residents only

2. Only privately owned cars, pickups and utility trailers no bigger than 4 ft. by 8 ft. are allowed. Commercial vehicles or commercial trucks are not allowed with the exception of a *One-Time Special Permit.

Only the materials you list on the Special Permit will be accepted at the Container Facility. You must present your Special Permit when entering the Container Facility or you will be refused access.

If a neighbor or a friend has a pick-up truck without commercial plates and you have large items, they can accompany you to the Container Facility. This will require 2 drivers and you would advise people on duty that they are transporting your items. You must have your Coupon punched at the Facility.

3. No household garbage, commercial trash, commercial or residential building materials, concrete or stone, trees, or landscaping debris.

4. No Recyclables (e.g. glass, aluminum, newspapers, cardboard, magazines, and plastic bottles - see #10), no Consumer Electronics (e.g. computers, monitors or televisions with a circuit board) and no Hazardous Waste material (e.g. oil based paint, auto products, mercury, kerosene, gasoline, ammonia-based cleaners) as defined by the Somerset County Recycling, Consumer Electronics and Hazardous Waste programs. Township residents will have unlimited access to the Container Facility on the designated Container Facility days (8am – 12 noon) for the purposes of discarding brush. Loads containing brush only will not count toward the four (4) allotted trips on the Coupon. If a resident brings materials in addition to brush, the trip will count and the Coupon will be punched. Brush will be received at the location designated in the Public Works yard, while other materials will be placed in containers as designated.

The Township does not provide curbside pick-up of leaves or grass clippings. For guidance on how to compost leaf and grass clippings and smaller yard waste at your property, go to:
