PC has embraced a multitude of sustainability practices on campus. Examples include: recycling nearly four miles of fluorescent light bulbs; harvesting rainwater that will heat and cool campus buildings; cafeterias are now tray-less which saves on food waste and this cuts water use, cleaning chemical use, and labor; purchasing breads, dairy, and produce from local dairies and farms; and in addition to buying locally, the College gives its used cooking oil to a local company, Newport Biodiesel, which produces high-quality biodiesel from waste vegetable oil.
