Mirasol FAFCO Solar

Rezumat

Mirasol is a 30-year-old, Nokomis-based provider of innovative energy-efficient solar electric, pool heating, water heating and pool automation equipment. The company is in the business of green power, but used the Green Business Partnership to guide it in improving day-to-day environmental performance. The company aggressively instituted recycling and waste reduction practices that have resulted in its cutting garbage service costs in half. It has also instituted policies to ensure that future purchased vehicles are energy-efficient.

Mirasol became a Sarasota County Green Business Partner in 2009. The Green Business Partnership (GBP) encourages environmental stewardship in the commercial sector, and recognizes businesses that make an extra effort to operate in an environmentally responsible manner. This collaborative effort includes businesses, business organizations and local governments. The GBP was initiated through a grant awarded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to Sarasota County.
