South Gower Coast (NNR)






Rezumat
The Gower Coast National Nature Reserve is a long ribbon of cliffs and coastal slopes, located in the far south west corner of the Gower Peninsula. It includes the tidal island of Worm’s Head and a long stretch of the adjacent mainland coast. It is an important site for its geological as well as its wildlife interest, dozens of rare flora and fauna can be found along the reserve. Opposite Worms Head, and beyond the dry stone wall which forms the inland boundary of the reserve there is the superb and almost unique example of an open field system from the middle ages - The Vile.
Further Information
An NNR is an area which is among the best examples of a particular habitat, and they are of national importance.
Their aim is to secure protection and appropriate management of the most important areas of wildlife habitat, to provide a resource for scientific research and to provide a resource for recreation so long as this does not compromise the wildlife habitat.
