Historical Feature

Overview

No votes yet

This historic house, built in 1840, is listed on the State Register of Historic Places.
The carved and cut porch details have a fullness and three dimensional quality not generally seen in early Gothic Revival. This is particularly true of the bulbous pendants hanging between the porch posts and the elaborate cornices above the 2nd floor windows. Home was pictured in the Montclair State College Bicentennial photographic exhibition, "Villas, Cottages & Country Residences."
It is a landmark in the community - the finest local example of a Carpenter Gothic cottage.
