This is a business owned and operated by 6 people; Jose Antonio and Vandu being two of them. The Ilha Grande Doces dessert cart, one of only two dessert carts on the island, can be found along the main street daily between the hours of 12pm and 12am. All desserts are made at home by four people, including the owner and his wife. Two employees rotate working 12 hours shifts. This dessert cart offers over 30 types of treats with flavors ranging from chocolate to lemon to passion fruit. The best seller is the Lemon Meringue Pie. Dessert prices range from R$2 to R$3. Ihla Grande Doces dessert cart goes through about 2 to 3 rounds of cakes and treats daily! They speak Portuguese, Spanish and have an understanding of English. You can also get here easily by foot. It's located right in front of the Pousada Tropicana.

Sustainable Features

All desserts are homemade, none are purchased. Ingredients to make the cakes and treats are purchased from Angra Dos Reis. Employees are trained to wear gloves when serving the desserts to customers but must take off the gloves when handling money; this helps ensure cleanliness. Any treats not sold at the end of the day are given to employees, local people or animals. If not, the leftovers are properly disposed of. The dessert cart is lit at night by a car battery, making it possible for customers to see the delicious desserts even at night.
