Urban Eco Life is a digital lifestyle e-magazine focused on urban dwellers throughout South Africa who wish to make a difference to the way we live and to promote conservation in urban areas. Short, informative articles cover a variety of topics including urban wildlife such as birds, frogs, snakes and other creatures, wildlife and bird rehabilitation centres, organic gardening and vegetable growing, permaculture, recycling, how to improve garden soils naturally - and more. We have short, one-page guides to herbs and indigenous trees, recipes for environmentally-friendly herbicides, pesticides and cleaning products that you can make from ordinary grocery items, whole food recipes and the like. We are also planning a “how to” series covering issues such as retrofitting your home, equipping your home for solar power, rainwater harvesting and similar subjects. We will also focus on urban ecology such as research into how certain raptors and creatures like gennets survive in city environments. We also do book reviews of wildlife and bird books and have an Events page promoting nature-based events, courses and talks.
