Hey hey - no comments yet! Great I get to be first! Well - lovely rolling mini hills - with that fantastical telly tubby feeling to it. Also a bike trail through it which leads onto the trail that runs along the river and comes out at Penarth road. Anyway - could do some nut trees - think that there is definitely potential in planting nut trees on roundabouts where there is a lot of traffic as this could prove to be a really good barrier against the grey squirrel which is a major major pest. The nuts also have a thick shell which would help against any pollution coming off the road.
Michele from edible landscaping write the above btw.
Im trying to picture this but cant quite remember where this is supposed to be, but I bike it along there on my way to Penarth and my cousin's place... I could stop off and help now and again ;)
Btw - I thought this would automatically add my name as I did it through FB but its put me as anonymous... but its Ian Hilbert.

great idea Helen
yes - Great potential with the big planters that the council puts out to plant edible crops a la incredible edible Todmorden
test
Think this has potential to be an interesting community garden area with fruit trees, hazel.
mmm maybe a raspberry plantation, with currents and gooseberries everyone likes them. With a nice border of comfrey, borrage, phacelia at the back and some colourful plantings coming forward at the most visual point. On the large pavement opposite it would be nice to plant up a large herb circle for the neighbourhood with curved benches inside it.

Hi I coordinate the Taffs Community Currency Scheme and just wanted to thank you at Cardiff Transtition for adding our group to the Sustainable Cardiff map, and just to put word out that we are looking to build up our database, so please take a look at the website and see what A)On offer and B)Add something that you can offer, some people say that they don't know what to offer but it can be as simple as time to help someone. Our monthly trading sessions take place currently in Cathays Community Centre, Cathays Terrace, Cardiff on the first Sat of every month and some members bring secondhand items to trade there for the jams, plants, seeds and crafts on offer that other members make or grow. We have a great network of sustainably minded people, please join in, Ian, Taffs Coordinator. www.cardifftaffs.org.uk
Please note that Cardiff Taffs Community Currency scheme now holds it trading sessions at CHAPTER Arts Centre on the FIRST SUNDAY in the month from 2pm until 5pm.
This is also the route for the 2014 Cardiff WNBR (https://www.facebook.com/events/771361622882716/)
Looks like this network has petered out, no new posts on website since 2010
Dear Mr Elliston
We are organising an over 50's event here at the Ely & Caerau Hub on the 25th Auguist 2015 from 10 -2pm.
We are looking to provide information on traininig, employment, volunteering and services.
We will have around 25 partners, employers and service providers attending and were wondering whether you would be interested in attending. We thought perhaps you could promote the growing of fruit and vegetables, not only on allotments but in individual's gardens but of course any involvment would be great.
If you think it's a viable propostion please let me know.
Many thanks,
David Devonald

great place to go, met lots of nice people over tea and biscuits, helped on the garden and got to share in the produce that was picked
great project, open to all who want to build community and a better environment.
Fantastic place to go and spend a day! Loads of very nice people sharing skills and ideas while working or having some lovely freshly cooked food. Tea and biscuits on offer most of the day and so many different things to do, you will not be bored or disappointed if you head down.
