Overview
If you are following the bike route to Canarsie you'll pass over 4th Ave which corresponds roughly to a pathway that headed south to Gowanus, or what is now Sunset Park. This path led to the waterfront where in the 18 century it was reported that you could find oysters as big as dinner plates.
