New Germany Nature Reserve
Overview
New Germany Nature Reserve is a 50ha mosaic of bushclump grassland, forest, and Protea woodland (three species of Protea). Main attractions include the walk-through aviary, wildflowers in spring, and section of historic Durban to
Pietermaritzburg wagon route.

Driving Directions: Take the M19 west from Durban to Pinetown. Take the Otto Volek off-ramp and turn left into Otto Volek Road. Turn immediately left into Mountain Ridge Road and follow signs to the reserve.
Travel time (from central Durban): 30 minutes
North Park is 53ha in extent and comprises riverine and coastal scarp forest, where visitors can walk beneath the canopy of a mature forest. The reserve is home to very good birdlife, in particular the Knysna Turacos, which co-habit the region with their locally more common relatives, the Purple Crested Turaco.
