Chicamacomico is one of the most complete historic United States life-saving station sites with eight original buildings including the first 1874 station and the second 1911 station. It was the first operational station in North Carolina and set the typical Outer Banks architectural style. Station life-savers are among the most highly awarded for a dramatic maritime rescue. During season offers programs at 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
