A really nice paddle is to put in here and go around La Framboise, taking out in the parking lot near the Legion cabin. Not recommended with SE winds above 15mph unless you are looking for an intense workout. Hugging the island will help and there are chutes that are protected from the wind. There are several spots along La Framboise where you can beach and hike. Four hours is plenty of time for a nice, leisurely paddle. Be aware that the river on the east side of the island (between the island and Pierre) can be quite busy with boat traffic on a nice day.
