Historic Fire House Number 2
概览
Historic Fire House Number 2 is a historical museum displaying fire fighting equipment and art. Built in 1885, the building functioned as a fire station to protect the southern part of the city. Once a volunteer fire station, Fire House Number 2 housed a horse-drawn steam engine named the General Ellis. In its early years, the station had a bell tower on its roof. The station was expanded with a South wing around 1895. After the city threatened to tear down the building in 2006, it was sold for one dollar to the Historical Society and restored. Now, Historic Fire House Number 2 is the oldest surviving community building in Stevens Point.
