The site consists of important wildlife habitats including molinia grassland, marshy grassland, scrub, bracken, neutral grassland, acid grassland, lichen/bryophyte heath and ponds. Many important wildlife species including have been spotted at the site:
Birds: skylark, song thrush, linnet, reed bunting, bullfinch, barn owl, fieldfare, redwing and snipe
Plants: broom, common gorse, western gorse, heath spotted orchid and southern marsh orchid.

Designated as a Site of Interest for Nature Conservation (SINC)
