La autoridad Portuaria de Gijón pretende desmontar el Alto de Aboño para utilizarlo como relleno de la ampliación del puerto. En el vacío resultante pretenden instalar la ampliación de la cementera Tudela Veguín y la ampliación del parque de carbones de la térmica. Un proyecto que arruinará irremisiblemente las playas de Xivares y Peña María en u concejo, el de Carreño, que soporta en la actualidad una de las concentraciones industriales más altas de la península. SALVEMOS LAS PLAYAS, SALVEMOS ABOÑO.
