Cape Town
The Langa Heritage Precinct
Overview
The geographic heart of Cape Town, and also one of its oldest settlements, is a tourist destination and a cultural node. The Langa Cultural Precinct in Washington Street preserves a rich cultural history and was established in 1999 to support the creative talent in Cape Town. The precinct includes The Guga S’thebe Arts and Culture Centre which incorporates a new theatre innovatively built from shipping containers, The Langa Museum, Mendi Park and public art. A project is now underway to further stimulate the precinct as a significant and vibrant cultural location relevant to all the citizens in Cape Town.
