Electricity Savings Campaign
Overview
The cost of electricity is a heavy burden for consumers, and for the City, and for the environment. Electricity accounts for 39% of total energy used in Cape Town, and reducing consumption is critical to building a resource-efficient city. The City’s creatively engaging Electricity Savings Campaign is aimed at both residential and commercial sectors, and recent research showed high awareness levels. Cape Town is currently consuming less electricity than the 2007 baseline consumption data, despite continued economic growth.
