Overview
Colonel Denning State Park is in Doubling Gap, so named by the “S” turn where Blue Mountain doubles back on itself. This feature may be seen from the Doubling Gap Vista in adjacent Tuscarora State Forest. The park has 273 acres of woodland and the 3.5-acre Doubling Gap Lake. The park is a trailhead for the 105-mile Tuscarora Trail.
Open to the public, dawn to dusk year-round. In the summer, look for interpretive programming and weekend events. The EE Center is open May-Sept. 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. daily. Hunting, trapping and training of dogs during established seasons. The 3.4 acre Doubling Gap Lake holds trout and has a swimming beach open from late-May to mid-Sept., 8:00 a.m. to sunset. Food concessions open from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Fri.-Sun. There are also 18 miles of trail available for biking and hiking.
