Dickinson College Treehouse

The Dickinson Treehouse, or Center for Sustainable Living, is a student housing project that incorporates sustainable practices into students' lives.
Some features of the Treehouse include:
-The Treehouse was made out of three already existing townhouses and other recycled materials
-Ceiling fans instead of A/C
-Front loading washer & clothes drying racks
-One flat panel LCD TV instead of multiple TV's using lots of electric while they are not even on
-Corn Pellet Stove set to 60 degrees
-Large insulated windows leave in natural light
-Furniture made out of Bamboo and recycled chop sticks
-Manual push mower
-Recycled tires for planters
-Compact Fluorescent Bulbs
-Kill-a-watt Meter to measure how efficient appliances and other electronics are
-Energy Star Appliances
-Water conservation by taking shorter showers, hand washing dishes and using the toilet a few times before flushing
