Overview
Enrolled many Italian children. Although at the time, education was not important to the immigrants, many Italian parents had received a lackluster education in Southern Italy so did not place importance on their children furthering their education. The Italian students had a hard time keeping up with no support from home and subsequently dropped out due to poor grades.
Now the site houses community centers and New York Chinese School.
