This ten-story building was completed in 1912 and was home to the most widely read Yiddish newspaper in the world. Founded in 1897, it was edited from 1902-1951 by Abraham Cahan, an immigrant from Vilna.

The newspaper was culturally Jewish by so nonreligious that it didn't even bother to print information about holy days or synagogue events.
