St David's Parish Church
Overview
Parish church designed with the values of the English Garden suburb movement, which briefly held sway in Scotland between the wars. This English-style parish church is remiscent of a thousand-such rural churches south of the border and was designed to fit in with the visual ethos of the Garden City movement. This was being abandoned by the pragmatic Scottish planners by the mid-thirties as cost and value became increasing issues in town planning. St Margarets at Knightswood Cross also reflects the 'garden city' design style that St David's characterises.
