Certification was a breeze for CaliFlorida Surf & Skate Shop. Meeting program standards in energy and water conservation CaliFlorida goes beyond, finding a place for would be waste. Owner Blake Parsons designs and creates custom surf boards and skate boards. Remaining wood scraps from skate board production are sent to manufacturers who up-cycle the wood, creating beautiful wooden wrist watches and sunglasses. Some local artists also collect curved wood scraps from Parsons and craft unique jewelry. Surf, skate boards, apparel, as well as the CaliFlorida brand clothing line designed by Parsons are available for sale. Additionally, surf boards, body boards, stand up paddleboards, and bicycles are available for rent.

CaliFlorida became a Sarasota County Green Business Partner in 2013. The Green Business Partnership (GBP) encourages environmental stewardship in the commercial sector, and recognizes businesses that make an extra effort to operate in an environmentally responsible manner. This collaborative effort includes businesses, business organizations and local governments. The GBP was initiated through a grant awarded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to Sarasota County. For more information about the Green Business Partnership visit:
