Hong Kong’s pioneering FAIRTRADE company

Formed in 2004 FAIRTASTE is a Hong Kong based social enterprise that promotes Fairtrade, ethical consumption and a healthier environment.

We give people the choice to buy the products they like, with minimum negative impact.

We select and promote high quality, accredited products.

We work closely with partners, producers, local communities and retailers, to develop more effective and mutually beneficial relationships.
Sourcing

We aim to bring products to Hong Kong directly from producer countries when possible. These will carry the FAIRTASTE brand.

Organically produced products that are good for you and for the environment are our priority.

We will also bring you fine Fairtrade products from other regions, such as Traidcraft’s cookies and Divine Chocolate.
Promoting FAIR TRADE

Through talks, seminars and other events we promote fair trade in Hong Kong, in companies, schools, universities and other organizations.

In December 2005 we attended the International Fairtrade Fair during the WTO Ministerial Conference. And in May 2007, we co-organized Hong Kong’s first Fairtrade Fair on World Fairtrade Day.

Our media programme aims to raise awareness of fair trade in Hong Kong.
Environmentally friendly

We reduce, reuse and recycle and try our best to lessen our environmental impact as far as possible.

The packaging we develop is simple and aims to reduce unnecessary waste. Using printed materials to promote fair trade and our products is inevitable, but we do use recycled paper and soy inks.

Whenever possible, we choose sea freight rather than air freight to reduce carbon emissions. We purchase carbon credits to counter the effect of our sourcing travel.

In our office, we use energy saving electrical appliances and donated furniture.
