The library offers an excellent place for reuse. Facilities include book and film lending, free internet and e-audio, e-magazines and e-books access, as well as regular community activities. It also has wi-fi. You can borrow an energy monitor for free. Additionally you can pick up green, pink and food bags, as well as kitchen waste bins and garden waste bags here.Tel: 655570.
Within St Thomas Community School, There are 4 shared-use community rooms available for hire. Some of the classes that currently meet there include local history group, mother and toddler, choir, t’ai chi, Zumba, and dance classes. Contact 650052 for more information or to book a room. Youth club meets at St. Thomas Community Centre on Monday and Wednesday, 6.30 – 8.30p.m. There are various activities including sports, x box, pool, arts and crafts, jewellery making and different activities for specific topics and dates. Please call 775088 or 07833 095484 for more information. East Side Historical Society also meet at the Community Centre. They offer an opportunity to meet socially while learning something new and sharing memories about the community and area. Contact 472158 for more details.
The school building has a number of sustainable features including solar thermal to heat its hot water, solar PV panels for electricity, a rainwater harvesting system which flushes the toilets, water-saving features on taps and the yard is made from recycled materials (car tyres and trainers).
